I thought I'd kinda tie the last two posts together here by posting quotes about prayer.
"Do we realize there is nothing the devil dreads so much as prayer? His greatest concern is to keep us from praying. He loves to see us "up to our eyes" in work - provided we do not pray. He does not fear because we are eager and earnest Bible students - provided we are little in prayer. Someone has wisely said, 'Satan laughs at our toiling, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.' All this is so familiar to us, but do we really pray? Let us never forget that the greatest thing we can do for God or for man is to pray. For we can accomplish far more by our prayers than by our works. Prayer is omnipotent; it can do anything God can do! When we pray, God works! All fruitfulness in service is the outcome of prayer - of the worker's prayers, or of those who are holding up holy hands on his behalf. We all know how to pray, but perhaps many of us need to cry as the disciples did of old, 'Lord, teach us to pray.'" (Quote taken from The Kneeling Christian)

wow, that's incredible! I know I need to take more time to just be with Him - whether praying, praising, or reading. Thanks for the awesome quotes!
"Prayer is not getting the Lord's attention, but allowing Him to lead us in praying for what He is more ready to give than we may be to ask." Lloyd John Ogilvie
"This leads to a very old question: does prayer influence God? No question has been discussed more, or more earnestly. Skeptical men of fine scientific training have with great positiveness said "no," and Christian men of scholarly training and strong faith have with equal positiveness said "yes." Not right in all their statements, nor right in all their beliefs, nor right in all their processes of thinking, but right in their ultimate conclusions as represented by these short words, "no," and "yes." Prayer does not influence God. Prayer surely does influence God. It does not influence His purpose. It does influence His action. Everything that has ever been prayed for, of course I mean every right thing, God has already purposed to do. But He does nothing without our consent. He has been hindered in His purposes by our lack of willingness. When we learn His purposes and make them our prayers we are giving Him the opportunity to act." S. D. Gordon
