Words

Temperance: self-control (the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, esp. his sensual appetites)
Greek word used three times in the New Testament

Patience: steadfastness, constancy, endurance in the NT the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings

a patient, steadfast waiting for

a patient enduring, sustaining, perseverance

Greek word used 31 times in the New Testament

Longsuffering: patience, forbearance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs
Greek word used 14 times in the new testament. Twice it was translated as patience.

The two times that longsuffering is translated as patience is how I thought of patience.

The definition I thought of when I heard "patience" was more similar to temperance. Patience is more of a determination thing than I thought it was. Running the race with patience makes more sense in this light. Hebrews 12:1

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 is good definition of temperance.
